Why Lexy?
Lexy makes your mobile experience richer and more satisfying because our network delivers things you love to hear and lets you broadcast things you want to say.
If you have a phone and already know how to make a phone call (duh!), you're going to really like Lexy: The freshest personalized news and entertainment in text and audio delivered to your mobile phone. Works on all phones and networks. No applications to download. No syncing to remember. No proctological exams required.
With a personal playlist that is updated waiting for you each time you call 415-692-4933, audio on-demand on your mobile couldn't be easier. Best yet, Lexy content and phone-to-phone sharing is 100% free. (We do not, however, own your mobile phone company so applicable airtime and texting charges will apply.)
Quikcasts: Snack-sized audio for bite-sized moments
At Lexy, we focus on delivering audio programs that fit your mobile lifestyle. We cull from the vast audio web the best short-form news and entertainment pod- and webcasts — or what we call, Quikcasts™. Generally between 1 – 6 minutes long, Quikcasts fit perfectly into your mobile moments. And if you have a bunch of "moments" to string together, like a commute to or from work, a Lexy playlist is just the answer.
Sweetness of a personal Lexy playlist
Combine any number of Quikcasts into a playlist that matches your interests and pleasure. News, humor, learning, lifestyle, entertainment, business, technology, special interests … whatever. Lexy combs the audio web for the latest updates, tees them up and alerts you (via text or email, your choice) when they are available. A simple phone call — or log-in at lexy.com — and you and playlist are one (OK, maybe a bit too much California in that last line but you get our drift).
Most people create a Quikcast cocktail of varied interests and frequency of updates: Hourly news update from the AP, followed by a RoofTop Comedy feed, and then sports from ESPN, NPR's Story of the Day, and a dose of the Daily Dish from A Million Cooks. Or something like that...
Your wish is our command
Navigating your playlist and Quikcasts is a breeze, using either your voice and/or keys on your phone's keypad: Voice in the car or keypad in a quiet place where voice commands may be awkward. Skip this one, rewind that one, add this to my playlist, pause for a moment … or share phone-to-phone with a friend and a whole lot more. As a Lexy family member likes to say, Lexy is "Easy peasy lemon squeezy."
Share Quikcast Episodes with Friends
Hear something funny, provocative, insightful, bizarre, or useful on Lexy? Just say "Share this" and you can send a particular Quikcast episode to a friend or colleague from your phone to their's. No registration, application download or other hoops to jump through before they hear what you sent either. You enter their phone number, record a brief message, and then they receive a text message, click on the call-in number to call Lexy, and your euphonic gift resounds in their ear.
Of course, you also can share favorite Quikcast episodes from lexy.com too, either from your playlist or the category listings!
How do I get started on Lexy?
There are 2 effortless ways to get started on Lexy. First, by phone: Call 415-692-4933. Lexy will play a handful of recommended Quikcasts for you, sourced from our community's Most Popular programs. At the end of each recommendation, Lexy will ask if you'd like to add that Quikcast to your playlist. To add, say “Yes” or press "1" on your phone. Lexy will then alert you when the Quikcast is updated.
Second, on the web: Since you already are here, click over to browse through Lexy's extensive and growing selection of programs on lexy.com. You can build your own playlist using the "[+] Playlist" link found next to each Quikcast.
How do I listen to my playlist on the phone?
Just call 415-692-4933 from your mobile phone. Lexy recognizes your number and automatically will begin your playlist, starting with the most recently updated Quikcasts. While you're listening, if you need anything, just say "Lexy." She will be happy to assist you.
Phonebook makes sharing effortless
To make phone-to-phone sharing really, really, really simple, create a personal phonebook on lexy.com. Then, sharing is as easy as saying someone's name, as in ... "Share with Tony." (assuming "Tony" is in your phonebook). How cool is that!
Lexy's phone-to-phone audio program sharing technology is patent pending but we are glad to let you use it with your friends, family and colleagues.
How do I listen to my playlist on the web?
To listen to – or otherwise manage — your playlist from lexy.com, just register for a Lexy account, and you'll get access to the same playlist on the web. Of course, you also can also share with your friends, family and colleagues from lexy.com too.
