Getting started on your mobile phone

To get a real feel for all the joys of Lexy, call toll-free 877-394-5399 (877 FYI LEXY) and Lexy will play you a few selections from our most currently popular entries. At the conclusion of each Lexy, you’ll be asked if you’d like to add that selection to your playlist. Just say “yes” or press “8” and it’s done. Bonus: you’ll also be notified when that Lexy is updated with a new post.

If by chance Lexy plays you a Lexycast that does not interest you, simply press “9” to skip to the next category. If you want to hear more selections like the Lexycast you are hearing, simply press “3” for related Lexys.

Listening to Lexys from your mobile phone

Is as easy as dialing and maybe even easier. Simply call 877-394-5399 (877 FYI LEXY). Listen, comment, navigate around. If you need help when calling Lexy, press “0” or say “Lexy.”

Using Alerts

Lexy sends text alerts to your mobile phone via SMS when one of your Lexycast is updated with a new post. To switch to email alerts and set a different notification schedule, click over to lexy.com, log-in and choose My Account from the top menu bar.

Commenting from your mobile phone

Press 2 at any time while the Lexy plays or when it finishes. Go ahead and speak your mind about the piece – love it or not, Lexycasters eat up feedback with a fork.

Share versus Post

Share means you’re making a Lexy available to a selected list of your Lexy connections. Post allows you to place a Lexy on your Facebook profile, a blog, or any of 30-plus social networks and web sites.

Building a LexyList

You can build your own LexyList with as many Lexys as you like. Or, if you prefer, Lexy can give you one of her pre-selected sampler packages with themes like sports, food, comedy and news ... or a potpourri mix of popular Lexys.

Removing a Lexycast from your playlist

Press “8” while a post from a specific Lexycast is playing to unsubscribe from that Lexycast only. Lexy will confirm that you want to unsubscribe.

Sharing Phone-to-phone

Hear a Lexypost you want to share with a friend? Press “11” on your keypad (IOW, press the “1” key twice in rapid succession). Lexy will ask you to say or enter your recipient’s mobile phone number, repeating it to ensure it’s correct. She then will ask you to record a message that will play before the Lexypost. You’ll be able to re-record your message in another take by pressing “*” and following Lexy’s guidance.

Posting a Lexypost while on Lexy.com

Press the icon from the Lexy player at the top of your Lexycast pages. You’ll see a screen appear that makes it easy to post a widget or link of that specific Lexypost to another website or social network, for other people to hear. Choose from over 40 other sites, including Facebook and Twitter, or use the embed code to embed it into your website.

Sharing a Lexypost while on Lexy.com

Press the icon from the Lexy player at the top of your Lexycast pages. You’ll see a screen appear that makes it easy to share that specific Lexypost directly with a friend by email or text message.

Adding your voice comments while on Lexy.com

Press the icon from the Lexy player at the top of your Lexycast pages. You’ll click into a simple recording application that’s ready to take in your audio thoughts, ideas, wild responses, challenges, accolades or other for the Lexycaster and other listeners to hear. Note that some Lexycasters choose to turn off commenting on their Lexys.

Removing a Playlist item

Click My Playlist on the account page and simply delete any or all of your Lexys.

Email notifications instead of text messages, and vice versa

Click on My Account in the top tool bar. On the My Account page, select the “Notifications/Alerts” and select the alternate option. You may also select the frequency and timing of your alerts. Please note that some Lexycasts currently have immediate alerts. We will be giving you control over these alerts in the near future.

Can I create my own Lexy?

Say the word, or click right here, and we’ll take you to the right Lexy page. Lexy suggestions – click contact and send our content team an email. All ideas, suggestions, rants, raves, applause and the opposite are welcomed.

Using the recording application on lexy.com to record a new post to your Lexycast

After logging-in, click on “My Lexys/Created” in the top tool bar. Then click on the “Record or Upload a new Lexypost” at the top of your my Lexys page. In the web recorder, be sure to select the proper Lexycast in the pull down (if you have more than one Lexycast). Type in a title, press “start” and you are recording!

Using your phone to record a new post to your Lexycast

Call 888-539-9233 from your registered mobile phone or landline and follow the easy prompts.

Using your phone to title your new Lexypost

Results show that Lexypost alerts that have a unique, intriguing titles receive more calls/clicks than those that are generic. So we highly recommend custom titles.

After calling 888-539-9233 and recording your new post, Lexy will send you a text message asking you to title your new Lexy post. Titles cannot exceed 100 characters in length. Reply with the message “TITLE (plus the title you’ve chosen).” Example: TITLE From the middle of the crisis – my 1st hand account.

To delete a Lexypost

Go to the My Lexys/Created page, find the appropriate post, open the actions menu, press delete and say buh-bye. Lexy will confirm that you do indeed want to delete the aforementioned post.

Making your Lexy invisible/private on Lexy.com

Go to the My Lexys/Created page, find the appropriate Lexycast (if you have more than one), click “Settings” and the “Edit.” Be sure to check the “Is invisible” checkbox. Important note: marking a Lexy “Is invisible” does not prevent those with shared links to your Lexy page from seeing or hearing existing or new Lexyposts. Similarly, followers will be notified when you create a new Lexy.

Making your Lexy visible/public on Lexy.com

Go to the My Lexys/Created page, find the appropriate Lexycast (if you have more than one), click “Settings” and the “Edit.” Be sure the “Is invisible” checkbox is unchecked.

Uploading an image to a Lexypost

You can upload an image to a Lexypost when you first create it on Lexy.com or you can upload an image for a Lexypost that you published in the past. Go to the My Lexys/Created page, find the appropriate Lexycast (if you have more than one), As part of each individual post, there is an “Edit Lexypost Image” link. The upload process should look very familiar from other upload and networking sites. The image you upload will be displayed beside your Lexypost on Lexy.com and in any distributed Lexy widgets.

Feed your Lexyposts to your Twitter followers

To have your Lexyposts flow directly into and through Twitter to your followers, after logging-in, click on “My Lexys/Created.” Then click “settings” under the title of each of your Lexycasts. Click “edit” to enter your Twitter username and twitter password. Then check the “Publish to Twitter” box and “Save” to save your changes.

Is posting to Twitter an all or nothing proposition?

You can choose to publish posts from one Lexycast through to your Twitter account, and not another. But as of right now, all posts for a Twitter-enabled Lexycast will flow through to Twitter until you disable the feature.

Uploading pre-recorded audio content as a new Lexypost

After logging-in, click on “My Lexys/Created” in the top tool bar. Then click on the “Record or Upload a new Lexypost” at the top of your my Lexys page. Click on the 2nd tab, “Upload MP3 File” and follow the familiar upload steps. Currently Lexy supports any mp3 audio file.

Default "intros" and "outros" to Lexys

By default, Lexy will provide a short musical introduction and conclusion to your Lexyposts.

Customizing "intros" and "outros" for your Lexycast

Upload your own short (3-5 seconds recommended) audio introductions and conclusions. You can use a musical composition, spoken word titles or whatever audio you want. For an example listen to Gadget Grrl Minute. After logging-in, click on “My Lexys/Created” in the top tool bar. Under your Lexycast’s “Settings” is a link “Edit intro/outro” where you can listen to the current intro/outro and upload new ones. MP3 files only please Note: use of copyrighted material without permission is strictly verboten.

Posting your Lexys all over the Web with Lexy's widget

When placed on your own website or social network page, it provides immediate access to a favorite Lexypost. Choose the “Post” link under the action icon associated with a specific Lexypost.

Listening to voice comments made to your Lexycast

Whenever a voice comment is left on one of your Lexyposts, you will be notified via email or text message. You can hear comments made by listeners to your Lexycast either by going to Lexy.com on the My Lexy page or by calling your Lexycast direct connect phone number.

Disable voice comments

After logging-in, click on “My Account/Created” in the top tool bar. Under the “Settings” for each Lexycast is an “Audio comments enabled “yes/no” command. Comments are “yes” by default.

Inviting followers

It’s easy to build your own personal fan base on Lexy. From your My Lexys page, go to the “Invite followers” link and on the subsequent page, enter your friends’ email addresses. Lexy also enables you to use your Gmail, Yahoo, AOL or Hotmail account to log in and invite people in your address book to listen.

Draft and final Lexys

Lexy gives you the option to record your brilliance and then think about it before you throw it out to the world. We call these “draft” Lexyposts and they remain private and secure until you decide to either post it or delete it.

To save a Lexy as a draft

If you are recording from your mobile phone – just press the # key and hang up. If you are recording from Lexy.com recorder, you’ll see the save as “Draft” option at the bottom of the recorder.
